Graveside services for Wanda Lee “Mema Butter” (Ricketts) Butler, age 88, a Shawnee resident, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at the Little Cemetery, in Little, with Larry Sparks officiating.
Interment will be in the Little Cemetery, at Little.
Services are under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home, in Tecumseh.
Butler passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021, in Shawnee.
She was born on October 4, 1932, to John B. and Nellie (Crawford) Ricketts, in Okemah.
Butler grew up in Cromwell. She lived in other places but, most of her life in Shawnee.
She graduated from Butner High School, in Butner.
She married Lautes Crane “L.C.” Butler, on April 4, 1978, in Coke County, Texas.
Butler was a homemaker and worked as a telephone operator.
She liked to sew and cook. Butler made an excellent chocolate pie. She was a member of the New Beginnings Church.
Survivors include her three daughters, Connie Gwaltney and husband, Dennis, of Tecumseh; Gloria Duncan of Shawnee; Dianna James and husband, Larry, of Seminole; son, John Curry and wife, Alice, of Stringtown; five grandchildren, Anitra Kennedy and husband, Brian; Marisa Fore and husband, Brandon; Toby Servis, Miles Neaville, and Sharina Curry; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur Ricketts and wife, Charlotte, of Moore; sister, Kathy King of Shawnee; numerous neices, nephews, other family and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John B. and Nellie (Crawford) Ricketts; husband, Lautes Crane “L.C.” Butler, in 2013; two brothers, Donald Joe Ricketts and Eddie Ricketts; three sisters, Maxine Barnes, Carolyn Sue Gregory and Cindy Granado.
