Police Arrest Teen Driver on DUI, Fake ID, and Other Charges

An Atoka Police patrolman arrested an 18-year-old Caddo man on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) and other offenses after a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

Patrolman Grady Blackwood initiated the stop after observing a Chevy Silverado fail to signal a lane change, swerving and nearly running off the road near South Mississippi Avenue and West Chicken Fight Road. The driver, identified as Briar Nelson Fincher, 18, pulled into the parking lot of the South Atoka Church of Christ.

According to the arrest report, Officer Blackwood detected the strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and asked Fincher if he had been drinking. Fincher initially denied it before admitting to having about four beers earlier in the night. He was confirmed to be 18 years of age, which is below the legal drinking age.
