Broken Taillight Leads to DUI and Drug Arrest

A woman was arrested in Atoka early Monday morning on drug and DUI charges after a late-night traffic stop for a broken taillight.

At approximately 12:15 a.m. on September 8, Atoka Police Officer Christian Shomo observed a Chrysler van with an inoperable license plate light, making the tag unreadable. The officer initiated a traffic stop on West 5th Street.

The driver, Alynnie Marie Harris, provided a picture of a Texas driver's license on her phone, which was found to be 'Not Eligible' through the NCIC database. Officer Shomo noted that Harris's speech was slow and slurred, and a strong odor of burnt marijuana was coming from the vehicle. A green leafy substance was also visible on her lap.
