Atoka (1-5) will host its annual Thursday night football game this week as Valliant (6-0) comes to town on Thursday, Oct. 16. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Wampus Cats suffered a 4914 loss at Vian on Oct. 10 to drop to 1-5 and 1-2 in Class 2A-II District 4 play. After getting blanked in the first half, Atoka strung together two scoring drives against Vian in the second half, the Wampus Cats also held Vian scoreless after halftime.
Freshman Ryan Barton connected with Teagan Richardson on a 54-yard touchdown pass with 7:13 remaining in the third to put Atoka on the board. Timothy Wingo added the point after attempt (PAT). Freshman Gage Crenshaw ran in a 3-yard touchdown run with 1:15 left in the third quarter. Wingo added the PAT to make it a 49-14 game.
