For the first time in school history, the Caney Lady Cougars (33-6) recorded a win at the fastpitch state tournament. Competing in Class B, #4 Caney defeated #5 Stuart (24-12) 7-4 in the first round of state at Devon Park on Oct. 9. After falling in the first round of the school’s first 5 state appearances, the Lady Cougars broke through with a win in their 6th appearance.

'It feels good to finally get that one done. We lost a couple extra inning games, lost at the plate a couple times, and a play at the plate. Finally, being able to be on the right side of that is a good one to get off your back,' Caney Head Coach Jackie Dollarhide said.

After defeating Stuart, Caney suffered a 16-0 loss to #1 Leedey (37-7) on Oct. 10 in the semifinal round. Leedey went on to win the Class B state championship. Against Leedey, the Lady Cougars recorded two hits as Morgan Darrell and Cheyenne Daniel each had one hit a piece.
