Lane School says, “We're excited to share that our brand-new Early Childhood Playground was installed over Fall Break! We can’t wait to see our students explore and enjoy every bit of it!” I think I might sneak down after dark and test out that spiral slide. Where I grew up it was called a corkscrew slide but, whatever you call it, that looks exciting to me.
Also, October 27-31 is Red Ribbon week at Lane School… If you don’t know what that is... Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign started by Angel Cerda in 1986 in honor of his friend, DEA agent Kiki Camarena, who was murdered in 1985 while on duty. Citizens in Camarena's hometown began wearing red ribbons to honor him and to reduce drug demand.
The Red Ribbon Campaign became a nationwide movement in 1986 with the support of Congressman Duncan Hunter and teacher David Dhillon, and in 1988, the National Family Partnership organized the first National Red Ribbon Week. Various organizations and schools across the country participate annually to promote drug prevention.
