The Oklahoma Tax Commission recently released city sales tax collection figures that primarily represents local tax receipts from August business. The monies they reported this period represent sales from Aug. 16 to 31 and estimated sales from Sept 1-15.
Statewide, the disbursement of $201,918,672 sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected a decrease of $2,915,358 from the $204,834,030 distributed to the cities and towns in October last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and town was $33,859,329 according to the Oklahoma Tax Commission.
In county returns, the counties shared in a $35,873,558 sales tax disbursement and a $7,225,329 use tax disbursement. Atoka County’s own local collections for this period showed stability in its secondary tax revenues. Its use tax disbursement, which primarily reflects sales made by outside vendors to local residents, totaled $53,769.43 for the month, up from $53,443.76 last year.
