As I write this report, I am hoping for beautiful weather this coming weekend for the long awaited “Another 48 Hours in Atoka” music celebration on our new stage. A lot of last-minute planning has gone into it this week, to ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible to ensure everyone that attends will get to enjoy all of the entertainers, the vendor booths, food trucks and all our amazing local businesses.
I’ve submitted the EDA grant application for a new 500,000-gallon water tower and approximately a half mile of new 12” water main line and now wait for any additional information or changes they may request. This water tower and line would greatly strengthen our water storage capacity for our city as well as the water pressure in that area and going south.
This is an 80/20 split grant. If we receive it, I will then apply for a Disaster Mitigation and Recovery Matching Fund grant that should cover all or most of our 20% match.
