A welfare check on a vehicle stopped on the side of the highway led to the arrest of a Texas man after officers found drugs, an open container of alcohol, and suspected impairment.
On November 3, 2025, at approximately 9:09 P.M., Officer Cort Humphrey of the Atoka Police Department observed a vehicle parked on the southbound shoulder of Highway 69/75. The driver, identified as Ryan Hall, advised he had pulled over to use the bathroom.
Upon speaking with Hall, Officer Humphrey immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Hall admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and was asked to exit. Hall initially hesitated but complied, eventually walking to the front of the patrol unit.
