Two Arrested Following Prison Contraband Drop Attempt

Two individuals were taken into custody early Tuesday morning after an attempted contraband drop was foiled by correctional officers at the Howard McLeod Correctional Center (HMCC). The attempt led to a high-speed chase and subsequent arrests for drug and license violations.

The incident began on November 4, 2025, at approximately 2:25 AM, when Atoka County Sheriff's Office Deputy Matthew Clay received a call about the prison drop at the correctional facility located on East Whippoorwill Lane.

Correctional officers at HMCC observed a red Nissan Altima drive to the south side of the prison property, turn off its headlights, and drop off an individual. As the officers attempted to make contact, the driver turned the lights back on and fled the area, traveling north on Centerpoint Road toward Highway 3.
