Someone asked me why I always say, “that’s my soapbox for today.” Wonder where the term “soapbox” originated? The term commences from a time when speakers would stand on a wooden box that once held soap and give impromptu public speeches in public places.
The soap crates were easy to find, light weight, so easy to carry, and gave the speaker a platform to speak from. We don’t see people standing on street corners as much now as in the past...Facebook seems to have taken the place of the soapbox. In slang, a soapbox comment' refers to someone expressing strong opinions.
Speaking of soapboxes…Crystal and Lane have some exceptionally fine people of particularly high integrity. Of course, that excludes the few who have no integrity at all. Integrity isn’t just about doing the “right thing.” It’s a quiet, unshakable sense of self-respect, moral alignment, and soul-centered awareness that informs every choice, every interaction, every relationship a person makes.
