Walmart Asset Protection Thwarts Attempted $498 Theft

Staff at the local Walmart successfully prevented the theft of high-value sporting goods on December 13, 2025, after noticing suspicious behavior on the sales floor.

According to a report by Atoka Police Officer Cort Humphrey, Assets Protection Manager Latrica Workman observed an unknown male pushing a cart containing an archery bow. Workman became suspicious after finding the item's packaging open and its 'spider-wire' security device missing nearby.

Store surveillance footage later confirmed that the male entered the store at 10:43 AM and selected the bow from the sporting goods department. The footage tracked the individual as he moved the merchandise through several sections of the store, eventually removing the security device in the seasonal area. The suspect was then seen checking the outdoor patio gates in an apparent attempt to find an unsecured exit before abandoning the cart and leaving the store empty-handed.
