Atoka High School track athlete Eden Eaves competed Saturday, Jan. 31, in the first-ever Oklahoma Cross Country Track Coaches Association (OCCTCA) Indoor Track and Field State Meet qualifier. Eden placed fourth overall in her division, earning a spot at the inaugural Indoor State Championship, scheduled for Feb. 21 at the University of Oklahoma. Preparation was limited, as practice did not begin until Dec. 1 and was later interrupted by an ice storm that kept us from training for several days. Despite those challenges, Eden competed well and continued to improve. We’re proud of her effort and are looking forward to representing Atoka at the State Meet. This season marks the first OCCTCA Indoor State Championship. Following last season, coaches voted to replace the Meet of Champions with a new indoor season that concludes with a state championship just prior to the outdoor season. Eaves is coached by Atoka Track and Field Coach Chet Braudick. Submitted photo
