For the first time in history, the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA) conducted a basketball playoff pairing reveal show on Jan. 31. The show announced playoff assignments for Class A, B-I and B-II while the OSSAA is set to conduct a similar show for Class 2A, 3A and 4A this Saturday Feb. 7 at 11 a.m.
Both Stringtown and Caney will compete in Class B-I. The Stringtown Lady Tigers and Tigers will play at home for the Area II District 6 Championship on Friday, Feb. 13 against Clayton with the girls game set to start at 6 p.m. and the boys game to immediately follow. The Caney Lady Cougars and Cougars will travel to Bennington to compete for a Area II District 7 Championship on Feb. 13 with the girls game set to tip-off at 6 p.m. and the boys to play after.
A new format was implemented by the OSSAA this year, district championships will now play on the Tuesday of the regional tournament at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. while district tournament runners-up will now play on Thursday of the regional tournament at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Regional tournaments for Class A, B-I and B-II will be conducted Feb. 17-21 with both Stringtown and Caney competing at the regional tournament in Caney.
