A man’s attempt to steal over $600 worth of hunting equipment was derailed by alert employees at the Atoka Walmart on Saturday, Feb. 7.
According to a report from Officer Russell O’Neal of the Atoka Police Department, a male suspect, later identified as Robert Stephens, entered the store at approximately 8:43 a.m. Surveillance footage tracked Stephens throughout the building for over an hour.
At approximately 9:11 a.m., Stephens was observed removing the tags from a pair of work gloves. Later, at 10:20 a.m., he was seen checking the gate locks in the garden center before moving to the hunting department, where he selected two compound bows.
