A report of possible gunshots on February 22 led to the arrest of an Atoka man who is now facing a felony charge for allegedly bringing drugs into a penal institution.
Sergeant Cody Poe of the Atoka Police Department was patrolling the area of Dunbar and 12th Street around 3:40 AM when he encountered 65-year-old William Cole walking with a backpack. Known from previous interactions, Sergeant Poe confirmed outstanding warrants through dispatch before placing him under arrest.
During a roadside search, Cole reportedly claimed he had 'picked up a needle earlier,' though officers could not initially locate one.
