Traffic Stop for Speeding Leads to Felony Child EndangermentArrest

A Monday morning traffic stop on Highway 69 resulted in multiple charges for a female driver, including felony child endangerment and the recovery of a stolen firearm.

On March 9, 2026, at approximately 3:12 A.M., Trooper Trent Mixon observed a white Dodge pickup speeding and drifting across the fog line near Lain Lake Road. After initiating a stop near Boggy Depot Road, Trooper Mixon identified the driver as Barbara Long. A 9-year-old child was also a passenger in the vehicle.

According to the report, Long appeared antsy and admitted there was marijuana in the truck. Trooper Mixon conducted Standard Field Sobriety Testing and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement, noting that Long showed signs of impairment and a lack of perception of time.
