Headstone Restoration Project

Last December, the Caddo Civic and Cemetery Club announced its intention to undertake restoration actions for older monuments that were leaning or possibly becoming unstable at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo. Notice of those plans was published to readers at that time.

They are now pleased to announce that this initial restoration project has been successfully accomplished. Cemetery Restoration Services, an Iowa cemetery restoration company, selected the monuments most in need, within the Club’s available funding, and safely and efficiently performed the work required.

In all, they were able to restore about fifty-two (52) of the older monuments, including many of the tall “Woodmen of the World” stones. Part of the restoration process may also include cleaning stones that have been darkened over time by weather, dust and lichen. That work will rely on trained volunteers and resources becoming available.
