The Caney Lady Cougars couldn’t have asked for a stronger statement at the season's first tournament.

On March 27 at Soper, Class A No. 1 Caney capped a grueling six-game stretch at the Paige Manion Memorial Tournament with a championship, knocking off Class 3A No. 1 Caddo 2317 in a high-powered finale. The title run was especially impressive considering the Lady Cougars had suffered a 26-4 loss to the same Caddo squad just hours earlier.

Instead of folding, Caney responded. “It was good to show we can compete after we got beat and played tough,” Caney Head Coach Jackie Dollarhide said.
