A maintenance employee at the Mack Alford Correctional Center (MACC) faces multiple felony charges after an investigation by the Oklahoma Department of Corrections (ODOC) allegedly linked him to a smuggling operation involving marijuana, vapes, and illegal communication with inmates.
Lonnie Ray Jr., a maintenance supervisor for the facility, was arrested on March 19 following a series of events that began three days earlier. According to a probable cause affidavit from the ODOC Office of the Inspector General, a correctional officer searched a maintenance truck Ray was driving through the front gate on March 16. During the search, officers reportedly discovered approximately 970 grams of vacuumsealed marijuana and vapes hidden under the vehicle's seats.
The investigation further revealed that Ray was allegedly in possession of his personal cell phone and smokeless tobacco inside the secure perimeter. While Ray initially claimed the contraband was placed in the truck by an inmate and that the vehicle's door was broken and could not be locked, investigators say they found incriminating evidence in Ray’s personal vehicle.
