ICE Memorandum Lands on DA Desk

Atoka County Sheriff Kody Simpson met with the Board of County Commissioners during their regular Monday meeting to discuss a proposed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Atoka County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The agreement would establish a formal protocol for Atoka deputies to assist in the identification and temporary detention of individuals for immigration purposes during their regular duties. Sheriff Simpson explained that the federal program includes provisions to cover the costs associated with the partnership, including specialized training, equipment, and transport expenses.

• $100,000 in upfront funding dedicated to transport vehicles and fuel.
