Hello Atoka! This past Thursday there was another meeting for the planning of the 4th of July parade to be held in Atoka. Discussion centered around contacts made and possible events planned. Basically, the parade will begin with line-up of participants, times for same, and the approximate time for parade completion with plans for events which will begin at approximately 11:00 a.m. and is scheduled to terminate at approximately 1:00 p.m. These planned events are planned to be of little to no cost for those wishing to participate and are planned as familyfriendly, entertaining events.

I have heard talk around town that Atoka “needs” to have more activities for its citizens and to provide for the youth and common citizens of our great county. I want all of you to know that this is currently happening at this time with nothing more than the common citizen taking an active part in attempting to get this all together. If you have ever wanted to be a part of a parade, now it is your opportunity to do so. There will be walking groups/organizations, business cars/floats, class recognition, and a host of other categories if you wish to be a part of this. This is the 250th anniversary of our great nation and we would like to let the world know that we are proud to be an American citizen celebrating such a historic event.

People will be contacting different organizations, businesses, and people in the hope that we can get a broad spectrum representing all the differences and uniqueness of not only our county but our state and country within the confines of our parade.
