Lane/Crystal News

I saw a post from County Commissioner, Spike Eaves giving an update on the cleanup work from the tornado for District 2 and 3.

His main point was to thank the volunteers who turned out to help get roads open. He said, “This wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for the people volunteering their time and labor, several people bringing equipment, and people helping us get through. Other counties have come to help, and there are still counties that are going to come help clean up.” You can see his full statement on Facebook. Just the regular neighborly Oklahomans, don’t you think?

My friend, who is creeped out by what she calls sneaky, slimy, slithery, snakes, told me about some natural ways to keep snakes away from your yard and chicken coop. You know that snakes do an excellent job of keeping the population of rats and mice in check. And, out of 150 snake species in North America, only four… the copperhead, rattlesnake, coral snake, and cottonmouth are venomous. That leaves 146 little slithery, critters that are mostly harmless. If they do bite in self-defense, it can become infected, but not life threatening.
