Charges have been filed against two inmates following a fatal assault at the Mack Alford Correctional Center (MACC) in Stringtown.
John Purdy, 45, and Darrell Lynn Melton Jr., 35, both face counts of second-degree murder and conspiracy in connection with the death of fellow inmate Christopher Smith.
The charges stem from a March 31 incident where staff found inmate Smith unresponsive in his cell with severe injuries. Smith was later pronounced deceased.
