Highway 7 Collision Reveals Heavily Impaired Driver

An Atoka man faces a felony in Atoka County District Court after allegedly causing a rearend collision in a local construction zone while heavily under the influence of alcohol.

According to an affidavit filed by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Chris Smith, the incident occurred at approximately 6:02 PM on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. Trooper Smith was dispatched to the intersection of Highway 7 and Hickory Hill Road following a report of an accident.

Upon arrival, Smith observed a Lincoln Town Car with significant front-end damage. The driver of a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado reported that she had been at a complete stop within a construction zone, waiting for a pilot car and a green signal, when her pickup truck was rear-ended by the Lincoln.
