Trooper Discovers Open Medical Marijuana

A Shawnee woman faces a misdemeanor charge in Atoka County District Court after an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper discovered an open container of marijuana during a routine traffic stop.

According to an affidavit filed by Trooper Spencer Shafer, the incident occurred on Monday, June 15, 2026, when Shafer initiated a traffic stop on a white sedan for excessive speed.

Upon approaching the passenger side of the vehicle, Trooper Shafer detected the odor of raw marijuana originating from inside the car. When questioned about the presence of marijuana, the passenger, identified as Alissa J. Langston, 28, of Shawnee, admitted that there was marijuana in the vehicle.
