Heather Gabaree, Executive Director of the Atoka Area Chamber of Commerce, recently completed the first of four sessions of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for Organization Management (IOM). The weeklong Southeast Institute was held at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, and brought together chamber professionals from across the United States for advanced leadership and organizational development training.

Institute for Organization Management is the premier professional development program for chamber executives and nonprofit leaders. The four-session program focuses on strengthening leadership skills while providing practical education in strategic planning, nonprofit management, membership development, advocacy, communications, finance, and organizational leadership.

Throughout the week, Gabaree participated in classroom instruction, collaborative discussions, and networking opportunities with chamber professionals from communities of all sizes. The experience provided new ideas and best practices that can be implemented to better serve Atoka Area Chamber members and support continued economic growth throughout the region.
