Washed-Out Pond Dam Leads to Fatal Rollover Crash in Coal County

A 63-year-old Coalgate man drowned Tuesday afternoon after his vehicle rolled over and pinned him underwater along a Coal County pond dam.

The fatal accident occurred around 2:00 PM on July 21, 2026, at 16652 County Road 3820, according to a preliminary report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

State troopers reported that Tony K. Gibby was driving south across the dam when his vehicle crossed an unlevel, washed-out section of terrain. The vehicle rolled 1 and 3/4 times before coming to rest on its driver side in the water.
