A Texas woman faces charges after Walmart Asset Protection staff caught her fraudulently swapping price tags and failing to scan merchandise at self-checkout registers on two separate occasions.
According to a police report filed by Atoka Police Department Lt. Jimmy Taylor, officers responded to the local Walmart on South Mississippi Avenue shortly after noon on July 20. Store management reported that a customer, identified via her Texas driver's license as Wendy Jernigan, was actively swapping barcodes to pay lower prices for merchandise.
Security footage from the July 20 visit showed Jernigan entering a self-checkout lane around 11:46 a.m. Store surveillance captured her tearing price tags off shapewear, attempting to scan pajamas with swapped tags, skipping items, and scanning only half of a batch of dresses before paying for the lesser total. The total loss for that incident was estimated at $59.86.
