Driver Tells Deputies He 'Likes to Race' After Reckless Chase Across County

A driver faces a felony charge of endangering others while eluding police after leading law enforcement officers on a reckless pursuit through Stringtown and Atoka at speeds exceeding 130 miles per hour, ending only when officers pinned the car in a ditch.

According to an affidavit filed by Stringtown Police Officer Aaron Thomas, the pursuit began during the afternoon of July 29. Choctaw Lighthorse Officer Roy Hummel alerted local authorities at 2:14 p.m. to a white 2025 Toyota Corolla carrying bicycles on the back, traveling southbound on Highway 69 at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

Officer Thomas spotted the vehicle near North Boggy and initiated a chase alongside Stringtown Deputy Chief Colley. Radar locked the Corolla's speed at 115 mph before officers reached speeds near 130 mph attempting to catch up.
