Gov. Kevin Stitt visited Atoka on Friday, Aug. 21, as part of his 77-County Tour, giving local residents an update on state accomplishments and reflecting on his eight years in office.
Charles McCall, an Atoka native who served 12 years in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, including eight as Speaker, introduced the governor. McCall highlighted their joint work over the last six years, pointing to re- cord revenue surpluses, major state savings, tax cuts, and historic investments in public education.
'We went from the worst of times to the very best of times,' McCall said. 'Anytime you have record revenues, record savings, with lower taxes... you have a very good recipe.'
