Dove Season Opens Sept. 1:

ODWC Reports Strong Numbers Statewide

Oklahoma dove hunters will take to the field Tuesday, Sept. 1, as the state’s dove season gets underway with wildlife officials reporting favorable bird numbers across much of the state.

Biologists with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC) say dove populations are looking good statewide, with some areas seeing particularly strong concentrations. Recent north winds have also moved migrating birds into Oklahoma, adding to the state’s resident dove population. Those resident birds are beginning to gather around dependable sources of food and water.
