Late-Night Traffic Stop Yields Cocaine Charge for Box Truck Driver

A traffic stop initiated over a missing license plate led to drug charges early Saturday morning after a deputy spotted cocaine on the floorboard of a commercial vehicle.

Atoka County Sheriff's Office Deputy Corwin Ridgway was patrolling Highway 69/75 within the Atoka city limits around 1:17 a.m. on Aug. 29 when he observed a northbound white box truck traveling without a visible tag. Ridgway pulled the vehicle over at the Atoka Fuel Stop on the north side of town.

When asked for documentation, the driver, identified as Irvin Roberson, handed over his driver's license but was unable to produce registration or proof of insurance. Roberson told the deputy the vehicle had previously been broken down and claimed someone had stolen the license plate.
