Bryan County Resident Pleads Guilty to Illegally Possessing Firearms & Ammunition

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Russton Dwight Sweeten, age 48, of Durant, Oklahoma, entered a guilty plea to one count of Felon in Possession of Firearm and Ammunition, punishable by up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The Indictment charged Sweeten with knowingly possessing one 20-guage pump-action shotgun, one multi-caliber semi-auto rifle, one 30-30 Win caliber lever-action rifle, one .22 L.R. caliber semi-auto pistol, one 9x19mm caliber semi-auto pistol, one 40 S&W caliber semi-auto pistol, and approximately 712 rounds of ammunition on March 26, 2026, after having been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year imprisonment.
