Seven Injured After Vehicle Strikes Buggy in Coal County

Seven Clarita residents were hospitalized Sunday night after a motor vehicle struck a horse-drawn buggy from behind on Highway 48 in Coal County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigation, a horse-drawn buggy carrying seven occupants was traveling northbound on Highway 48 when it was rear-ended by a passenger vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Tupelo resident.

The driver of the vehicle told investigating troopers she was manually adjusting her vehicle's thermostat and did not see the buggy ahead.
