Over the past three months, Choctaw Nation has helped more than 37,500 households access nutritious food through summer meal kits and Summer EBT (electronic bank transfer) cards.
“We were so happy to provide these programs for our communities again this year,” says Shelly Rector, senior director of USDA food and nutrition for the Choctaw Nation.
“Families need help with groceries year-round. Schools are able to offer some assistance during the months they are open, but during the summer, families still need help and sometimes even more due to seasonal work. We are proud to be that resource for them.”
