The 5th annual Atoka AFSP Out of the Darkness Community Walk will take place Saturday, September 19, at the Atoka Sports Complex, bringing together community members from across Southern Oklahoma to promote suicide prevention, honor loved ones lost, and support individuals facing mental health challenges.
Organizers are making a final push toward their $15,000 fundraising goal. Funds raised through the walk support local families, mental health advocacy, public education, and suicide prevention legislation.
Registration will open from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the walk officially stepping off at 8:00 p.m. In keeping with tradition, the opening lap will be lit exclusively by solar lights to symbolize carrying light into darkness.
