We hosted the semi-annual Lake Atoka and Mcgee Creek lake meetings at city hall on Thursday, September 10th. Oklahoma City provided information on the progress of their projects, lake levels, annual rainfall, etc.
I truly appreciate everyone that assisted in putting out the grass fire that started on Monday afternoon, September 14th. In addition to our fire department, several other Atoka County fire departments, Coal County fire departments, additional area fire departments, the Forestry Service, additional agencies, tribal agencies, and many more local folks, along with the construction crew on site working for Oklahoma City, etc. all did an outstanding job to save a lot of property in its path. It took a joint effort to keep it from doing more destruction than it did.
We appreciate everyone’s patience as it has taken much longer than expected to get our water, sewer, trash service data transferred and converted from our old software program to our new one. Assistant City Manager Gene Dodson has spearheaded this conversion and ensured all necessary changes are being made correctly before sending out the bills.
