Cash Offer for Freedom Turns Morning Arrest

An early morning disturbance at a busy Atoka intersection ended with an arrest, a bribery charge in the back of a police cruiser, and contraband discovered during jail intake.

Around 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 21, Atoka Police Officer Christian Shomo responded to reports of a woman sitting in the middle of East C Street and Delaware Street wearing minimal clothing and blocking traffic. When the officer arrived, he spotted Hailey Larson walking in circles in the roadway before she turned and started walking away.

Larson told the officer she was heading to her mother’s house, but police noted she was walking in the opposite direction. Observing slurred speech, erratic movements, and signs of impairment, Officer Shomo conducted field sobriety tests on the scene. Larson admitted to using drugs the day before and smoking marijuana earlier that morning.
