Three Forged Checks Lead to Charges for Durant Man

Charges have been filed against a Durant man accused of forging multiple stolen checks totaling more than $2,200 in Atoka County.

The investigation began on July 14, when Captain Gipson with the Atoka County Sheriff’s Office took a report regarding a missing check from a family checkbook. A victim provided bank statements showing a $400 check made payable to Darrell Hatcher Jr. that bore a forged signature.

Three days later, on July 17, the victims contacted investigators again after learning from their bank that two additional fraudulent checks made out to Hatcher had been identified, one for $675 and another for $1,185.
