Lane gives a big thanks to County Commissioner, Spike Eaves, and the County Crew for all the work they have done on the Bill Coben Community Building. We took cookies and gave them a big Thank You but if you see any of this crew, give them your thanks too.
There has been a lot of talk about the dangers of AI going around so I had to look it up. First question I got was what does AI stand for? “AI” stands for Artificial Intelligence, and AI systems do not possess any kind of natural intelligence; they learn patterns and make predictions based entirely on the data provided to them by humans. AI can generate reliable predictions, automate processes, and uncover insights that humans might miss. But it seems that people’s fears are tied to what could go wrong if the people feeding data to these systems use flawed, incomplete, or biased data without anyone checking to see if the data is correct — because AI’s outputs can have real-world consequences if there is no human oversight.
One fear is of biased or flawed outputs. So, if AI is “only as good as the data it receives,” then poor-quality, incomplete, or biased training data can produce distorted or harmful results, and these errors can lead to discrimination, wrongful decisions, or total inequality. There is the fear that even if AI is accurate there can be an inability to explain why AI decided that way.
