Several Atoka County teams completed Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association regional tournaments last week.
Two area teams will compete in a state tournament this week while Tushka baseball will compete in a regional tournament.
Slow Pitch Softball
Class 3A #2 Tushka (26-8) will play in the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association Class 3A State Tournament on Wednesday, May 7 at Firelake Ball Park in Shawnee. At press-time, a state bracket had not been announced. The Lady Tigers hosted a regional tournament on Tuesday, April 29. The Lady Tigers opened the tournament with a 13-0 victory over Drumright and won a regional championship with a 4-2 win over Apache.
Class A #1 Caney (26-12) will play in the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association Class A State Tournament on Wednesday, May 7 at Firelake Ball Park in Shawnee. Caney will open the tournament against #8 Tupelo at 10 a.m. The winner will face the winner of Fort Cobb Broxton v. Roff at 4 p.m.
The Class A State Championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. All Class A State Tournament games will be played on field 3. TheLady Cougars hosted a regional tournament on Thursday, May 1. Caney opened the tournament with a 10-0 victory over Geronimo and won a regional championship with a 7-4 win over Fort Cobb Broxton.
Baseball
Class 3A Atoka ended their season at 6-28 on May 2 at an Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association Class 3A Regional Tournament. The Wampus Cats went 1-2 at the regional conducted by Holland Hall at Bixby High School. Atoka Scores - Holland Hall 4 Atoka 1; Atoka 11 Commerce 4; Kellyville 15 Atoka 0.
Class B #11 Caney ended their season at 18-14 on May 2 at an Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association Class B Regional Tournament. The Cougars went 1-2 at the regional, conducted by Leedey. Caney Scores Caney 4 Coleman 2; Leedey 14 Caney 1; Granite 13 Caney 3.
Class 2A-II #2 Tushka (23-6) will host an Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association Class 2A-II Regional Tournament May 8-10. The Tigers will open the tournament against Wewoka at 11 a.m. on Thursday May 8 with Fairland vs Wilson set to play at 1:30 p.m.
The winner of the regional tournament will advance to the state tournament set to be played May 17-19.
