Bird was arrested and transported back to the target property as deputies executed the search warrant. Several other individuals were detained at the property but later released. One male who arrived at the residence was arrested for felony DUI and transporting an open container. Evidence indicating methamphetamine use was found at the residence.
John Roger Bird was booked into the Johnston County Jail on charges of felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm while under the influence, and public intoxication-Drugs.
The Sheriff's Office release commended the deputies for apprehending 'this violent, repeat offender who continues to be a threat to the citizens of our County.'
The case will be forwarded to the Eastern District of Oklahoma U.S. Attorney’s Office for federal prosecution, and a probable cause affidavit will be filed with the Chickasaw Nation.
The investigation remains active, with authorities continuing to target Bird's associates.
