Lady Cougars Claim Second Consecutive State Championship
Senior Mac Wheeler hits a grand slam in the third inning to give Caney a 8-2 lead against Soper in the state championship.

The Caney Lady Cougars claim the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association Class A Slow Pitch State Championship with a 14-6 win over Soper on May 12. In the first round, Caney defeated Tupelo 9-1 and the Lady Cougars defeated Roff in the semi-finals 16-9. Team members are Talynn Ladd, Sidney Barnes, Kaigan Ladd, Mylea Willis, Maci Childers, Bailey Braziell and Cenzlie Hendricks, Brooklyn Barnes, Kenna Barnes, McKinnley 'Mac' Wheeler, Taigan Crites, Kaelynn McMichael, Cheyenne Daniel, Manager Sage Bagby, Manager Laynie Laymon, Head Coach Jackie Dollarhide and Assistant Coach Jessica Crites. A story and additional photos will be included in next week’s issue.

Players rush Caney Public Schools Superintendent Lori Delay and High School Principal/Athletic Director Matt Brister to receive the state championship trophy.
