Lady Tigers Fall in First Round at State

Lady Tigers Fall in First Round at State
SENIOR BEYA SIMON – Throws the ball to the Fairland batter in the fourth inning.

Class 3A Tushka Lady Tigers (26-9) suffered a 4-3 first round loss to #7 Fairland in the Class 3A Oklahoma Schools Secondary Activities Association Slow Pitch State Tournament on May 12 at Firelake Ball Park in Shawnee.

Two hole batter Brinlee Anderson started the first inning by hitting a single but was unable to move past first base. In the bottom of the second inning Fairland threatened to score with a runner on the corners (first and third) but senior Chanci Alford caught a fly ball to keep Fairland scoreless. After Beya Simon was walked and Reece Reegan hit a single, Alford hit a three-run home run to give Tushka a 3-0 lead in the top of the third.

Fairland responded in the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run to cut the deficit to 3-1. Two doubles were hit by Fairland in the fifth inning but the Lady Tigers defense kept Fairland from reaching home.

The first three batters for Fairland reached base in the sixth inning, which was followed by a fielder's choice and a sacrifice fly that tied the game at 3. Fairland then hit a double to take a 4-3 lead.

Down to the last three outs, Emma Burkhalter and Reegan both hit a single but a lineout ended the season for the Lady Tigers.

BRINLEE ANDERSON – Prepares to swing the bat in the first inning against Fairland. Anderson hit a single on the play.
