McGee Valley News

Congratulations go out to Shooter Boatright, one of our Daisy athletes who ended his senior year by capturing a State Baseball Championship with the Tushka Tigers.

Shooter's athletic talent is no surprise as dad Dale Boatright was an outstanding college baseball player at EOSC. Shooter's brother Hunter also now plays baseball at the collegiate level while granddad Jimmy Boatright had a long-time coaching career and helped hone his son and grandson’s skills.

Shooter is the son of Dale and April Boatright and grandson of Jimmy and Linda Boatright and great grandson of Herman and Peggy Hutson.

We had a great turnout at our Senior Ladies Sunday School Class & Friends Mother's Day Appreciation Luncheon last week.

We also appreciate Kenni Lane who gave our devotional. The devotional was inspirational and touched everyone that was in attendance.

We all enjoyed a nice lunch and especially a time of visiting. Those attending were: Imogene Bacon, Lavona Wyrick, Ruthie Anderson, Dorothy Muncy, Kenni Lane, Donna Clay, Liz Page, Jo-Ann Gabbart, Nettie Hensley, Gladys Kelly, Joyce, Schrum, Melissa McKee, Edna Burleson, Trish Bacon, Teran Martin, Dottie Burkhaulter, Wendy Isom and Kathy Anderson.

We had several of our ladies who attended the Atoka-Coal Baptist Association Luncheon this past week at Southside Baptist Church.

Those attending from McGee Valley were Ruthie Anderson, Imogene Bacon, Dorothy Muncy, Jo-Ann Gabbart, Liz Page, Nettie Hensley, Edna Burleson, Wendy Isom and Kathy Anderson. Other churches represented were Southside, Wards Chapel, and Coalgate.

In addition to the nice meal, we were treated to a mini concert by 'The Branches', a trio featuring Jane Grubbs, Yvonne Williams, and Susan Killian.

The trio sings harmony in a variety of genres, such as Southern Gospel, Country Gospel, Bluegrass Gospel, Contemporary and Old Hymns.

Our McGee Valley Baptist Church GHAT (Gray Haired Angels Traveling), want to especially thank Eddie Brown of Brown's Funeral Home and Ameristate Bank for their generous donations to our annual Branson GHAT Adventure each year.

This is our 15th year for our Branson trip, and we are all excited and look forward to the trip each year. We especially appreciate Eddie Brown of Brown's Funeral Home, who has donated every year to our trip.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Robby Isom. I told him I wouldn't put his age in my news that he was turning “60' so I won't divulge his age.

However, Robby and his granddaughter Arrow Isom are celebrating birthdays together. Arrow is turning 6 years old and just graduated from kindergarten. Arrow is the daughter of Chad and Amelia Isom.

Congratulations go out to longtime friend and classmate Tony Potts on his recent retirement. He now joins the ranks of us who after retirement don't know where we fit in all we got done in a day.

Tony will also add another milestone when he turns 66 on June 6th.

On another note, former classmates Claudie Self and Howell Magby want to remind everyone they will be turning 66 years old in August, We were glad to hear that Chris Kellogg got a good report from his recent medical tests. The family appreciates all the prayers.

Please continue to pray for Sherri Wolfe, Leebert Tramble, Liz Page and Bob Dillard.
