Summer Reading Program Continues with a Variety of Exciting Performers

Summer Reading Programming continues at Atoka County Library this June! Featuring the theme “Color Our World” the annual SRP will host the following performers every Tuesday in June at the Atoka Elementary Gym (1775 S Greathouse Dr, Atoka, OK) at 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM; Art Theft- A Dog Comedy starring Denise Gard’s famous Border Collies Joey and Kira on Tuesday, June 3rd. Border Collies Joey and Kira will perform a play featuring dog tricks and mystery.

Inspyral Circus on Tuesday June 10th. Acrobat and performer Kelsey Nicole will display a variety of circus tricks like juggling and contortion.

Extreme Animals on Tuesday, June 17th. A variety of different animals will be present for children to learn about and interact with.

Bart Taylor with the Will Rogers Memorial Museum on Tuesday, June 24th. Bart Taylor returns to demonstrate his lassoing techniques and talk about the life of Will Rogers.

“We have programs and entertainment planned for all ages and interests,” said Youth Services Coordinator Stephanie Way. “We are thrilled to host this year’s Summer Reading Program, and we invite everyone in the community to come celebrate with us.”

“At SOLS, we value the importance of engaging our youth in literacy and learning, especially during the summer,” said Executive Director Gail Oehler. “This year’s program is filled with activities for the entire family.”

This year Atoka County Library will continue using Reader Zone for our SRP participants to track their reading minutes. Please contact your local library to learn about this system and ask for your library’s code. Paper reading logs will still be made available.

The SRP is supported in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries.
