The Brickyard in downtown Atoka hosted its 3rd annual car show on Saturday, May 24th. Despite a rainy forecast, enthusiasts gathered to showcase a variety of impressive vehicles.
Awards were presented in several categories to recognize outstanding entries. Darwin and Karen Beck of Atoka took home the 'Best Modern Car' award for their 2013 Boss Mustang. The 'Best Engine' honor went to Bruce McLaughlin of Durant for his 2001 P/T Bruiser Hot Rod Blown 383.
In other categories, Maggie Haines of Mill Creek was recognized for 'Best Ford' with a 1965 Mustang. Curtis Potts of Sawyer won 'Best Custom' for his 1967 Plymouth Barracuda. The 'Best Mopar' award went to Jim Ridgway of Atoka for his 1923 Last Call Scatpack Widebody Challenger.
Melvin Jacobs of Atoka secured 'Best Jeep' with his 1980 J-10 Honcho. Gary Rhodes of Ada earned 'Best Import' for his 2018 Subaru WRX, and Paul Jones of Durant was awarded 'Best Modern Truck' for his 1985 Chevy 30 Dually.
Jay Hill of Boswell received the 'Special Interest' award for his 1962 Studebaker Vpack. An Honorable Mention was given to Brittney Pfaff of Atoka for her 1983 Chevy Squarebody.
The event, despite the weather, continued the tradition of bringing unique and classic vehicles to downtown Atoka.
