Texas man was cited and charged early Friday morning after an Atoka Police officer observed him making an improper turn, leading to the discovery that he did not possess a valid driver's license.
At approximately 1:09 AM on June 6, 2025, Patrolman Grady Blackwood with the Atoka Police Department was on routine patrol near S Mississippi Avenue and W Liberty Road. He observed a black Chevy Trax, bearing a Texas license plate, making an improper turn from the rightmost lane directly into the turn lane to head west on Liberty Road.
Officer Blackwood initiated a traffic stop, and the vehicle pulled over just west of S Mississippi Avenue, near Spring Road on Liberty. After advising Atoka County Dispatch of the stop location, Officer Blackwood made contact with the driver, identified as Dirrick Dotson of DeSoto, Texas.
