A woman was arrested last Friday evening in Atoka after being pulled over for speeding, leading to the discovery that she was driving with a suspended license and had an unrestrained child in the vehicle.
At approximately 8:29 PM on June 13, 2025, Sgt. James Riley of the Atoka Police Department observed a white SUV traveling southbound on Highway 69 near the CFI yard. The vehicle was clocked by radar at 79 MPH in a posted 55 MPH zone. Sgt. Riley initiated a traffic stop, and the vehicle pulled over just south of Redbud Lane.
Upon approaching the vehicle, Sgt. Riley requested the driver's license and proof of insurance. The driver, identified by her Texas ID Card as Patricia Ann Bownes, stated she did not have her license on her, claiming it was in the back of the vehicle but inaccessible due to items. She affirmed she possessed an Illinois driver's license.
